MGI spare parts, wheels and warranty: what to know before you buy
Core Takeaways & Executive Summary
  • MGI parts are model-specific, so confirm your series and model year before ordering.
  • Rear wheels in pink, gold or black suit 2023 or newer Ai models and 2019 or newer Zip models with 15mm axles, excluding the Zip X1 and X3.
  • MGI recommends a service every 12 months or 500km, and registering the buggy for warranty and servicing.
  • MGI states water damage to the drive system or electronics is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered.

Why model and year matter

MGI buggies change between years and series, and a part that fits one may not fit another. Check the series and year against the product page, and contact us with your model if you are unsure.

Wheels

MGI sells Zip rear wheels in pink, gold and black, which suit 2023 or newer MGI Ai Series models and 2019 or newer MGI Zip Series models with 15mm axles, and exclude the Zip X1 and X3. If a wheel will not roll forward freely and lock when pulled back, MGI says it may need replacing. Wheel covers protect the rear wheels in storage and travel.

Batteries, chargers and remotes

Batteries and chargers are matched to the series, and our MGI battery and charger guide explains which fits which. A replacement MGI Ai and Zip remote controller has pre-programmed pairing and USB-C charging; our remote guide has the pairing steps.

Registration and servicing

Register the buggy using the serial number, which is at the base of the battery mount and inside the top box on Zip buggies and on the chassis under the battery on Ai buggies. MGI recommends servicing every 12 months or 500km, following the Preventative Maintenance Program in the user manual.

Warranty and water damage

MGI buggies are not waterproof. MGI says damage to the drive system and electronics from water ingress is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by its warranty, so avoid pressure washers and hoses and keep to fairways in wet weather. For warranty terms, check the documentation supplied with your buggy and contact us with your order details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do MGI rear wheels fit every buggy?

No. MGI rear wheels in pink, gold or black suit 2023 or newer Ai models and 2019 or newer Zip models with 15mm axles, and they exclude the Zip X1 and X3. Check your series and model year against the product page before ordering, and contact us if you are unsure what fits.

How often should an MGI buggy be serviced?

MGI recommends a service every 12 months or every 500km, whichever comes first, following the Preventative Maintenance Program in your user manual. Approved service centre locations are listed on the MGI website, and registering your buggy with its serial number helps speed up servicing and warranty handling.

Where do I find MGI's warranty terms?

On MGI's own warranty page, linked at the end of this guide, and in the documentation supplied with your buggy. The ACCC's consumer guarantees page also explains your rights under Australian Consumer Law, and you can contact us with your order details if you need help with a claim.

Should I replace a worn wheel or buy a new buggy?

MGI says a wheel that will not roll forward freely may simply need replacing, which costs far less than a new buggy. If the wheels are fine and the buggy still will not drive, have it inspected at an authorised MGI repair centre before you decide whether replacement makes sense.

Where can I buy MGI rear wheels or wheel covers in Australia?

Both are in our accessories range, in stock at our Yatala QLD depot and shipped Australia-wide with freight quoted to your postcode at checkout. The rear wheels come in pink, gold or black, and wheel covers protect the rear wheels in storage and while travelling with the buggy.
